Two generations of the Bates family, one shop on Mill Street
Our story
A San Bernardino body shop, run by the family whose name is on the building
Bates Auto Body has been repairing vehicles from our shop on West Mill Street in San Bernardino for years, and the people you talk to are the people who own the place. Brian Sr. and Brian Jr. Bates are here in the shop, and customers tell us the same thing again and again: honest answers, fair prices, and work that holds up.
Most of what we do is collision work. Someone runs a red light, an insurance company sends a customer our way, and a car that looked like a total loss goes home looking great. We handle the bodywork, the paint, and the panel repair, and we do it at a price people can live with.
We're a family business, and we treat repeat customers like family — some have been bringing vehicles to us for two decades, including a few who moved away and still drive back to San Bernardino for the work.

What customers say
“Fantastic place to get my vehicles repaired. This family business goes above and beyond to get you what you need and that includes getting my vehicles repaired for a reasonable price. I've been bringing vehicles to them for 20 years. Additionally, I now live in Northern California and took my truck to them last month. If you want it done right the first time, this is the family business you should go to for repairs!”
“I was involved in a vehicle accident a couple of weeks ago. An Expedition ran a red light & hit my car. I was referred to Bates Auto Body by my Insurance Company. Brian Sr., the owner, was so professional & very friendly. When my car was done, it looked Great! I would "highly recommend" this place to anyone. Not only did they do a great job, but they are also good people!”
“They had a very big job regarding repairing my car, so it took a little longer than expected. Nonetheless, they did an amazing job in restoring it and making it look great. Brian Jr Bates is an honest and well humbled guy, appreciate his work and honesty. It's very hard to come by shops and people you can trust around the SB area.”
