Our story
A straight answer and a fair price
We're a small independent shop on West 13th Street in Merced, and we work the way a neighborhood mechanic should: find the actual problem, explain it in plain language, and charge what the job is worth.
Most of our customers come to us after somewhere else has already had a go. They've paid for guesses, replaced parts that didn't need replacing, or been told the whole system needs to come out. We'd rather spend the time to diagnose it properly, and if you want to see what we found, we'll pop the hood and show you.
Air conditioning, alternators, general repair and maintenance — bring it in and we'll tell you what it needs. Nothing more.
- Diagnosis shown to you under the hood
- Most repairs turned around in a day
- Independent, owner-operated shop
What customers say
“My alternator died and I pulled into this shop because it was nearby. Mario got me going in less than 24 hours at a reasonable price. He made sure to use the correct (high power) alternator that my truck's tow package requires (I didn't have to tell him to do that like I would some mechanics). I'm not local but if I was, this guy would be my mechanic.”
“After $800. Two weeks and two other mechanics failed to fix my van, Mario fixed it in an afternoon for half the price. He is my forever mechanic now no more searching and stressing over getting ripped off by dishonest mechanics. Econo Auto Repair is my choice for all my auto needs”
“Mario was very helpful and professional when fixing my car. I'm a single mom and do not know much about vehicles, he was very helpful informative and explained to me in detail exactly what was wrong with my Air conditioner. He even took the time to actually show me the problems it was having under the hood so I got a better understanding. He was reasonable and got the job done in a timely manner as promised. I highly recommend Mario and his shop and will come back for any future repairs. God bless and thank you.”
